Myra Kraft Open Classroom - Free Healthcare Policy Seminar

The Myra Kraft Open Classroom is a free, weekly seminar offered by Northeastern University's School of Public Policy and Urban Affairs (SPPUA) that features prominent guest speakers with renowned expertise and extensive experience. This semester, the Open Classroom examines topics in US healthcare policy, and is designed to inform discussion and debate regarding the important changes that are occurring within our healthcare system. On October 30, we host Dr. Bob Master (CEO, Commonwealth Care Alliance) and Dr. Alice Bonner (former Director, Division of Nursing Homes, Office of Clinical Standards and Quality, Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services). Dr. Master will share his thoughts about the state of the health care industry with regards to the provision of home-care services for people who have very complicated issues, as well as the emergence of dual-eligible pilots that have single coordinated management system for people who are on Medicare and Medicaid. Dr. Bonner will then talk about the problem of over-medication and over-institutionalization of frail elders, re-examining the use of health care facilities as a last resort (i.e. what can be done at home?). Join us Wednesday, October 30, from 6-8pm, at West Village F, Room 20, for an informative session and lively discussion!
