Whittier
Street Health Center will celebrate Heart Healthy and Black History month this
month by hosting two events at 1290
Tremont Street, Community Education Room, 2nd
floor.

On Tuesday, February 11,
2014, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Whittier,
along with AstraZeneca HealthCare Foundation, will celebrate Heart Healthy
Month and its community’s successful journey toward heart health. Heart disease
is the leading cause of death of both men and women in the US, yet it is
preventable and controllable. The free event will feature healthy cooking
demonstrations, meet-and-greet sessions with health care providers, and
testimonials from Whittier’s
cardiovascular program participants. Light refreshments will be served. For

On Thursday, February 13,
2014, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., Whittier will
celebrate Black History Month and its Annual Meeting with keynote speakers State Treasurer Steven Grossman and
Former Mayoral Candidate Charlotte Golar Ritchie. CEO and President of Whittier
Street Health Center, Frederica Williams, will present an annual address on the
state of Whittier.
There will also be an art exhibit by Whittier’s
resident artist and patient, Paul Andrews, along with musical performances,
