Fallen Firefighter's Girlfriend Running Marathon in His Memory
Sarah Wessmann will run the race after she lost Michael Kennedy in a huge fire in March.
The girlfriend of one of the Boston firefighters killed in a huge blaze in March is running the Boston Marathon in his honor, according to WHDH/7News.
Michael Kennedy died fighting a nine-alarm fire in Back Bay.
On Monday, Sarah Wessmann will run the race in his memory.
"He was a wonderful guy," Wessmann told WHDH. "This means a lot to me ... he can't be there at the finish line but he'll be with me."
Wessmann was a spectator at last year's marathon and was about a block away from the pair of bomb blasts that killed three people. Kennedy responded to the scene and helped a woman who lost her leg.
Kennedy had planned to propose to Wessmann in May.
