Local Developer Sues Cambridge Planning Board

Jonathan Davis, a developer and chief executive of the Davis Cos. has traditionally been a fan of redevelopment in the greater Boston area, but a current lawsuit proves that he is not a friend of the Cambridge Planning Board.

In a recent Boston Globe article, Davis said it would be silly to interfere with the redevelopment in Boston, when in fact; Davis is suing the Cambridge Planning Board for similar development decisions.

“Why toy with the goose that appears to be laying a series of golden eggs?” Davis asked the Globe in a recent article. “It is impossible not to be struck by the vibrancy of the development going on everywhere and extending into the neighborhoods. It really seems like the planning process is working.”

But Davis opposes development in Cambridge.

Davis sued the Cambridge Planning Board after they granted a decision for an apartment building to be built adjacent to his office building in the Kendall Square area.   In an aggressive and litigious approach, he continues to challenge the Cambridge Planning Board’s decision with a lawsuit even after losing in the appeals court.

While Jonathan Davis continues to praise the BRA for their work, he is attacking the Cambridge Planning Board for offering similar decisions.
