Lawsuit Filed Over Deadly Back Bay Blaze
Two firefighters were killed in the March 26 fire on Beacon Street.
The owners of a Back Bay building that was the site of a deadly fire in March have filed a lawsuit against a welding company that allegedly sparked the blaze.
The nine-alarm fire broke out at 298 Beacon St. on March 26. Two Boston firefighters, Michael Kennedy and Ed Walsh, were killed.
Authorities said the fire was ignited by sparks from welding equipment being used by a group of workers doing repairs to a building next door at 296 Beacon St. Authorities said the welding company didn't obtain a work permit—as is required by law.
The Boston Herald reported the owners of 298 Beacon St. sued Malden-based D & J Iron Works, its owner Guiseppe Falcone, and Oliver Realty, which owns 296 Beacon St.
