Library Hosting Johnson Building Improvement Meetings

What do you think of the project to improve the Johnson Building at the Boston Public Library?

Boston Public Library will be holding several upcoming roundtable meetings regarding the plans for improvements to the Central Branch's Johnson Building.

According to the library, the meetings will take place at the following times and locations:

  • Thursday, Aug. 15, 6 p.m., Boston Room at the Central Library in Copley Square, located at 700 Boylston St. This meeting will feature an overview of the master planning process.
  • Wednesday, Sept. 25, 6 p.m., Mezzanine Conference Room at the Central Library in Copley Square.
  • Monday, Oct. 21, 6 p.m., online community chat via www.bpl.org/compass.
  • Thursday, Nov. 14, 6 p.m., Boston Room at the Central Library in Copley Square.
The Copley Boston Public Library will start construction in 2013 to redo the Johnson Building at the Central branch. This project will open the main floor to Boylston Street, improve and expand the Children’s room, as well as upgrade the Rabb Lecture Hall.

“We have greatly benefitted from community and staff input throughout the master planning process,” said Michael Colford, director of library services in a statement. “And we look forward to even more conversation and engagement with library users in the months to come.”
