Livingstone Sworn in as Back Bay's State Rep

The 8th Suffolk House district has a new State House legislator.

Jay Livingstone won't have a very long commute to get to work as the state representative for the Beacon Hill neighborhood he calls home.

Livingstone was sworn in Wednesday as the new holder of the 8th Suffolk County House of Representatives seat. The district covers Back Bay, Beacon Hill, West End, Fenway and parts of Cambridge.

ProgressiveMass tweeted a picture here of Gov. Deval Patrick swearing the Beacon Hill Democrat into office at the State House.

Livingstone, a lawyer, was elected in a special election held June 25. He ran unopposed in the special election. He'd previously defeated Back Bay Democrat Joshua Dawson in the special primary for the election.

This seat had been unfilled since January when former Rep. Marty Walz resigned to become the new Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts president and CEO.
