Sen. Dan Wolf Announces Campaign for Governor

Written by Emily Atteberry.

State senator Dan Wolf (D-Harwich) announced Wednesday morning his campaign to run for governor, the Cape Cod Times reported.

Wolf, founder of Cape Air, told the Times he sees a path for him to be "really be successful in this campaign."

The state senator said he plans to run with a grassroots campaign style similar to Gov. Deval Patrick and U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass. He said he's not concerned about fundraising.

He has already been working with Northwind Strategies, the same Boston-based political consulting firm that strategized Patrick's gubernatorial campaigns as well as Warren's.

Wolf said he is not interested in who else is running for governor; rather, he's interested in the lives of those who have been affected by the recent economic downturn.

According to the Times, State Treasurer Steven Grossman, whose family owns property on Cape Cod, has said he plans to run, but hasn't officially announced yet.

Originally elected to the state senate in 2010, Wolf was re-elected in an uncontested race last year.
