Eric Fontecchio and Alfred Georgs of Brookline Ice look to the past and future as two ice sculptures rise over Copley Square. Eric and Alfred have been ice sculpting for First Night more or less forever, and they always give us a very general description of what they'll do, and then we're as surprised as you are when they finish. This year, they say they'll carve Pharaoh's Egypt in all of its monumental glory on one side of Copley Square.
On the other side, they say that to commemorate the 35th anniversary of Fist Night they will carve something inspired by the very spacey artwork by Scott Listfield you see on this year's button. We don't really know what this means, but feel comfortable telling you it will be out of this world!
