Former Boston Mayor Who Led City In Wake of Marathon Bombing Diagnosed With Advanced Form of Cancer

By Matt Perkins

Former Boston Mayor Thomas Menino has been diagnosed with an advanced form of cancer that has spread to his lymph nodes and liver, the Boston Globe reported Saturday

The cancer was reportedly discovered by Menino's physician, who was examining the 71-year-old for a chronic weakness in his legs. The former mayor's doctors have not been able to find the source of the cancer, having suggested they never will, and said surgery is not currently a treatment option, according to the report.
