The original Charley's Saloon has been delighting Boston with its delicious specialty steaks and famous burgers for more than 40 years. This massive Back Bay location, with considerable outdoor seating, is equipped with a fully-stocked basement bar and is perfect for late nights -- it is open quite late on weekends, and the bar serves food until midnight or later seven days a week.
Charley's Saloon serves brunch on weekends, which includes one of several midmorning cocktails (e.g. a screwdriver or mimosa). But don't worry, it also has a kids menu. In fact, this is the perfect spot for families, sure to delight people of all ages.
While Charley's doesn't have many vegetarian options, those it does offer are crowd-pleasers, including a margherita pizza and angel hair primavera.

If you are in the mood for classic American fare, Charley's Saloon on Newbury St is the place for you. During my most recent visit, I had the opportunity to split different appetizers including the Maryland Lump Crab Cakes and Spinach and Artichoke Dip. The crab cakes were on the small side and could have used more crab meat. This is not to say, they weren't good, but I was expecting more crab meat within the cakes. The Spinach and Artichoke Dip on the other hand, was quite good and served with a handful of carrots and celery in addition to tortilla chips. The dip was able to maintain its quality all the way through the entire serving.
For my entree, I choose the "Charley's Original Baked Chicken" as it has always been a staple of mine. The serving is so massive that the cornbread stuffing and cranberry sauce actually comes on a separate plate! The baked chicken was, and always has been, fantastic. This version is slightly different than most as it is a skin on and boneless version of the typical chicken dish.
Food isn't the only thing that Charley's is known for. They have an extensive drink menu that features wine, beer and spirits.
Also offered are fruity drinks that are perfect for those hot summer days. For those cold winter nights however, Charley's offers liquor flights, including cognac and scotch.
If you're hungry for lunch or dinner, you can't go wrong with Charley's Saloon as the extensive menu has an option for everyone including the pickiest of eaters.
