Boston Youth Organizing Project
565 Boylston St, Boston, MA 02116
The Boston-area Youth Organizing Project is a nonprofit group supporting youth-led campaigns for social causes. MembersMore of the BYOP are between the ages of 12 and 18 and are elected by their peers to organize projects centered on issues concerning young people. Projects are adult-supported but entirely organized by the young elected members. The BYOP recently had success extending curfew hours for the MBTA student passes and is now continuing a campaign for public transportation improvements such as running more buses and making a youth pass available for non-students. BYOP also partners with Alliance for Educational Justice and the Save Our Schools program in a campaign to get a higher percentage of public funds allotted to education. It is also currently working on establishing a scholarship program for its members.
