Boston City Council resolution recognizes today as Fenway Park Day in recognition of the beloved park's 100th birthday this season.
At today's Boston City Council meeting, the council will declare today to be Fenway Park Day in the City of Boston. “In 100 years, I hope a celebration like this is happening again,” said Boston City Council President Stephen Murphy, referring to the 100th birthday celebration of Fenway Park on April 20. But the birthday celebrations are continuing all season long. The Boston City Council will do their part by declaring April 25, 2012, Fenway Park Day. Murphy will present members of the Fenway Park organization with an official resolution during the council's Wednesday meeting. “This gives the City and fans another chance to remember what Fenway Park means to them. The Red Sox will release a total of 100 balloons with free tickets to their April 20th game from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in neighborhoods all around Boston today.

Families and friends of athletes from around the world descend on Boston for the marathon, and plenty of them brought signs to cheer their runner on.
Plenty of folks were on hand to pour Gatorade, and race staff packed lunches for runners.

In honor of Fenway Park's 101st season, we have put together some fun facts about baseball's crown jewel that you may not know.
In honor of Fenway Park’s 101st season kicking off today, we thought we would honor that “lyric little bandbox,” as writer John Updike famously called it, that has become as much a part of Boston as dropped “Rs,” the Charles River and disgraced public officials, with some fun facts, courtesy of funtrivia.com and baseball-statistics.com.
