T Driver’s Sayings Lift Orange Line Commute

Ja-Ron Freeman has earned a bit of celebrity among Orange Line riders with his positive attitude, safety-first mindset and quotable catch phrases.

“Have a five-star day” or “it takes teamwork to make the dream work” are phrases one might expect to see on an internet meme or hear on a customer service phone call with the cable company. But probably not on the Orange Line. MBTA Orange Line conductor Ja-Ron Freeman has made these phrases his own. He speaks them while driving his train during his entire run through on the Orange Line, but in an interview during his break at North Station Friday, he said motivational clichés are not his intention. "At the end of the day it's all about safety. I don't want anybody to get hurt riding my train," he said.   Couched within traditional train speak – “This train is bound for Forest Hills; Keep your hands inside when the doors are closing” – …

'Seen and Heard on the T'

We've all got stories of things we've seen and heard on the T. Share them with your neighbors here.

Flip through the gallery to see what other riders are seeing and hearing on the T. It's easy to add your own photos or videos too. Just click the big "Upload Photos and Videos" button at the top left. Be sure to add a caption saying which line you were riding and a description of your photo or video.   An Explanation of "Seen & Heard on the T" The T is one of my favorite places. Really. Aisha Abdi Yusuf was arrested late Tuesday night at Back Bay Station.

A 22-year-old Boston woman allegedly hit, kicked and bit a uniformed detail officer Tuesday night at Back Bay Station, after he removed her from a Forest Hills-bound Orange Line train due to her unruly behavior, according to police. Aisha Abdi Yusuf was arrested for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (shod foot) on a police officer, disorderly conduct and disturbing the peace. The officer was transported to Boston Medical Center for his injuries. Recap Shortly before 11 p.m. Tuesday, the officer was taking the Orange Line train home after his shift at a TD Bank, when he noticed the suspect yelling at a group of young males at the other end of the train car. The suspect was yelling obscenities and moving her arms in a “threatening …

#MBTAFail: Service Problems on Orange and Red Lines Have Been Identified

Report indicates aging trains at fault and will cost $1 billion to replace.

The next time you find yourself stranded on an Orange Line or Red Line train platform tweet-cursing a message to #mbtafail you can take heart in knowing that the continuous problem with slow or stalled service has been identified. It was revealed yesterday that aging subway cars on those two lines are responsible for longer waits and more frequent service interruptions, according to an article in Thursday’s Boston Globe. And the results of an-depth report contend it will take $100 million to upgrade the train cars until $1 billion is available to replace them. Commuters daily voice their frustration with all MBTA service by tweeting messages. Some add hashtags, such as “#mbtafail” to their tweets so others can easily follow problems as …
