Union Carpenters of Boston Picket on Mass Ave.

They were specifically upset over the work being done on the Beacon Towers at 483 Beacon Street.

Boston's Union Carpenters formed an informational picket line Thursday on Mass Ave. and Beacon Street, trying to get the word out about non-union labor. They were specifically upset over the work being done on the Beacon Towers at 483 Beacon Street: "The Condo trust has hired Metric Construction, who has a history of using subcontractors that pay less than the area standard for wages and benefits."  The Union Carpenters emphasised that they are picketing for the betterment of all carpenters. They hope to bring up the standards by informing others they should fight for jobs with "affordable healthcare, retirement and a wage that pays the rent."   You can find out more information by stopping at the picket line and asking.
