Hi, everyone:
I just wanted to respond to some of these concerns. I'll admit, the past two weeks or so have been pretty dominated by citywide stories, in light of recent events. I understand the frustration about many of these stories not being local to Charlestown, but I would argue that they do have value for Charlestown readers, as Charlestown is part of Boston and there was some big news recently that many readers wanted to know about. Through it all, we did provide Charlestown focus whenever possible—the local vigil, a column by St. Mary-St. Catherine's Father Ronan, Charlestown fundraisers, etc.
I would disagree, however, that Charlestown Patch is NOT local. I spend many evenings attending Charlestown meetings about Charlestown issues, and days talking to Charlestown people, and have published many local stories in my short time here as a result.
All that said, I hope to get back to more of that type of coverage now that things have settled down a bit in the city; however, I will still occasionally post articles that discuss city- or state-wide issues that have relevance to Charlestown readers. But I will also strive to keep those stories fewer and bring the local stuff to the forefront.
If you have any local story ideas, please send them my way at becca.manning@patch.com.
Thanks for the feedback.

Lauren: Unfortunately, this column has gotten left by the wayside in the past month or so, but I'm hoping to revive it next week. Share your latest questions here in the comments, and I'll work on them for upcoming columns. —Becca

Steve, what would you recommend we do to improve our police coverage?

It was originally supposed to be condos but was amended to apartments.

Hi Melissa,
This seems to be a matter that should be handled either through a private discussion with Mrs. O'Brien or filed as a formal complaint with the state agency (information above).

All of Charlestown is in BPD's A-15 district, although I believe it shares a station with A-1.

I spoke to Donna O'Brien this morning and she said that if anyone feels they were denied access to the caucus they can contact the Democratic State Committee to file a complaint. http://www.massdems.org/your-party/state-committee/
